On August 26, another person from Heibo has to appear in court. Hopefully for the last time, it will be about §113: “Resistance to law enforcement officers” and once again the course of events leading up to the trial, including the eviction, the threat of imprisonment and untenable charges, has already worn on the nerves.

We have already seen several times how prosecutors and cops concoct the most absurd accusations in order to punish people who oppose the destructive power of capitalism as harshly as possible. In this case, too, they diligently constructed. During the evacuation of the Heibo, one of the cops dropped his crowbar. But because the cops naturally don’t admit their own mistakes, they tried to blame the falling crowbar on one of the activists and charge him with assault on law enforcement officers and attempted grievous bodily harm.

Indigenous group opposing destructive mining in Maipo river sends greetings to anti-capitalist sabotage campaign

The group “Insurrectional Cell for the Maipo: New Subversion” (Célula insurreccional por el Mapio. Nueva Subversión) has claimed last Saturday’s arson attack in the region of Valparaíso, Chile. Seven trucks were set ablaze at the El Melón concrete plant during the night, and the company offices were also targeted. No injuries were reported.

In a communiqué sent to La Zarzamora, the Mapuche insurrectionary cell cited ecosystem degradation, corruption in extractive licensing, and climate change as reasons for the attack. It also declared “unity with the fight for Mapuche autonomy” from Chile and Argentina. The communiqué sent greetings to “comrades who have dealt blows in other territories of the world”, mentioning recent attacks on cement factories in Germany and resistance to the Mountain Valley gas pipeline in the USA. The communique linked the recent attack to the international Switch Off! campaign, a loose banner for anti-capitalist sabotage attacks on the infrastructure of companies who thrive on ecological catastrophe.

The six were arrested on Tuesday when Palestine Action invaded the Filton site of the Israeli arms company

— Palestine Action says six of its activists are currently being held under the Terrorism Act, allowing the police to detain them for an extended period of time without charge.

The six were arrested on Tuesday at Elbit Systems’ highly secured research and manufacturing hub in Filton, Bristol. Activists used a prison van to smash through the outer perimeter, and invaded the site causing damage to equipment.

On July 23rd Casey was indicted by a federal grand jury on three charges all relating to the same incident. Two of the charges allege destruction of property by fire/explosives and carry a 5-20 year sentence each if convicted. The third charge alleges possession of an unregistered firearm and carries a maximum of 10 years (note: “firearm” here is referring to the alleged destructive device, not a gun). Casey’s lawyers have officially agreed to represent them in federal court.

Casey is back in Santa Rita in federal custody and expects to remain where they are for the time being. All the transfers and changes in custody were jarring and Casey will hopefully be able to finally settle into a routine. Alongside their already rigorous usual studies they have been pursuing their own legal self-education in preparation for their ongoing case.

On 19 June Toby was issued with an administrative sanction as a direct result of his “bad attitude” and conveying open letters and audio interventions outside of the prison. This comes after several anarchist comrades were removed from his permitted contact list with the reason being a “threat to national security”. This sanction will reduce the number of visits he can receive as well as reducing the amount of money he can spend on phone calls and groceries. Toby was able to receive a few letters and postcards recently, but he is still facing an enhanced censorship on his correspondence and post. Toby wishes to express that he is well and sends an embrace of fire to all the other imprisoned comrades and to the action groups.

On July 26, after a nearly two-month long ordeal, I was released from my federal grand jury subpoena by the South Carolina U.S. Attorney’s Office. I’m so relieved that I don’t have to appear in court. This would not have been possible if a supportive community hadn’t had my back through all of this. I’m incredibly grateful for all the love I’ve received. 

The State seeks to tear us apart because they know how strong we are when we stand together. The feds saw the show of solidarity you displayed for me and chose not to test our resolve. When we reach out to each other instead of isolating from each other, we have the power of community. Our support structures rival those of the State. Through generations of struggle and repression, we have built dual power in this way. 

It has come to our attention that the Russian government has declared the Anarchist Black Cross Federation an “undesirable organization” under the Russian Undesirable Organizations Law. Such organizations are forbidden from holding public events and from possessing or distributing promotional materials. Russian banks and financial institutions are forbidden from cooperating with “undesirable organizations” and are required to monitor and report any financial activity. Supporting or participating in such organizations carry a sentence of six years in prison.

It should be noted that the Anarchist Black Cross Federation does not exist within the borders controlled and occupied by the Russian government. While there are Anarchist Black Cross organizations, they are not associated with our organization in any way. In fact, it seems that out of concern or fear of being prosecuted under this law, they have politely distance themselves from us and have severed any contact. We do understand such actions and do not wish to cause them any further harm. We hope they are not affected by this recent decree by the Russian government. Again, we wish to make clear, they are not part of, nor do they associate with, the Anarchist Black Cross Federation. However, we do not believe that such a clarification will hold any weight for a state wishing to impose its will.

According to recent media reporting, anarchist comrade, Casey Goonan, was indicted by a federal grand jury this week relating to a firebombing of a police vehicle and possession of an unregistered gun. Each carry a sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.

Goonan was arrested and charged arson and other actions by the Alameda County, but feds took over the case. They (Goonan) are set to appear in court this a Friday and plans to enter a not-guilty plea.

The federal government is also alleging that Goonan attempted to set fire to a federal building in Oakland in June 2024. Despite the allegation, there has been no formal charges related to this matter. But it does suggest that new possible charges are on the horizon.

Their trial is scheduled for June 2025.
